Automotive
Phoenix Polymer Compounding provides high-performance polymers for demanding automotive applications. Need a polymer that retains strength and stiffness at high temperature and humidity? How about one able to shrug off automotive applications exposed to high loads and stresses? Components made from our compounds can be designed with strength similar to some die cast metals, plus offer the advantages of lighter weight, corrosion resistance, fewer parts and lower cost. Low creep and dimensional stability in high temperature/humidity enables these components to maintain their exacting dimensions.
No matter what your automotive application is, the material experts at Phoenix Polymer Compounding can formulate a solution.
METAL REPLACEMENT WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE STRUCTURAL PLASTICS
Chemical Resistance - In highly corrosive atmospheres and chemical environments, our high performance compounds are corrosion resistant in places metals fail.
Strength and Impact Resistance - Reinforced plastics perform well even in high strength / tensile applications, while retaining the ability to be modified to stand up to impacts. Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds can even outperform titanium in some applications.
Friction and Wear Resistance - Plastics can offer excellent wear resistance coupled with a low coefficient of friction. Plastics can out perform metals in many aggressive environments. We have developed and worked with many plastic material formulations to provide outstanding friction and wear performance.
Eliminate Secondary Machining Operations - Molded plastic parts can provide outstanding sealing surfaces, bosses and integral hinges as well as provide excellent wear surfaces without costly secondary machining operations.
Hydrolysis and Moisture Resistance - There are plastics that can retain mechanical properties and dimensional stability when exposed to water or steam at elevated temperatures and pressure.
Versatility - Designers will appreciate the complex shapes that can be easily molded allowing them to combine parts and reduce piece counts. This added versatility will reduce costs.
